About Katelyn

I love the taste of rich dark chocolate with a glass of Merlot, vintage cameras, warm sunsets and sandy beaches, gardens full of exotic flowers, the smell of fresh cut grass, shades of green or blue, traveling to far off places, close family gatherings, laughing with my husband, cuddling with Bambi (our chihuahua), running long distances, reading novels, The Real Housewives, and I Love Lucy.

Little Tidbit / new jeresey photographer news

I have been blessed to start a business I really have a passion for. I've learned a lot over the past five months since officially opening and even more over the years since getting into serious SLR photography. Sure, I've made mistakes, but I've also come up with some really great ideas, I think :) The learning process is what it is all about for me. I'm always learning and experimenting!

When I first started back in May, I wondered what the response would be. Would people be interested in my photos or were my ideas a little too creative? I am overwhelmed by the positive responses and so thankful for everyone who reads my blog, takes the time to comment and share their excitement with me! I am also thankful for the other great photographers that I follow throughout the world. They are inspiring and keep me on my toes.

My happiest times are when I get the first responses from my clients after they see their photos! I want all of my clients to feel like they made the right investment and received more than they thought was possible! I love looking at my old family photos and remembering birthdays or other silly times. I want these portraits to do the same for others.

While anyone can take the standard family portrait, a lot of what I share with you on this blog are the special moments from our sessions. Of course, I take those standard shots with my own edge, but who needs to see rows of one family after another on my blog?! Capturing children at play, couples sneaking a kiss or families enjoying each other is what really gets me excited. It is so much fun to be able to observe and feel the happiness so many people share as I photograph them.

Every time I come home from a shoot, I tell my husband how much I feel I know the people I've just photographed. Sometimes I haven't met the people I'm shooting until the day of the shoot! Afterward, I've felt like I've known them for years! A camera is really an entrance into the soul and I am thankful I've been able to meet so many gracious people this past summer.

Many new ideas are ahead for me. I'm always thinking about what I can do next, what I can offer and what people might be interested in. I want this to be a lifelong endeavor and I'm doing my best to constantly create, imagine, design and implement everything I can! There are endless possibilities and sometimes I have to reel myself in :)

I hope you will "stay tuned" to watch me grow as a photographer and as a person. I will be sharing more about who I am as a person and what my life is like on this blog in the coming months... :) And as always, I hope to get to meet you soon for your own portraits!

I can't post a blog without a photo! Here's one from one of the very few days I've been able to relax for a moment at the beach.
