Ayla's Holiday / new jersey child photographer

My niece Ayla is so much fun! I can't believe how much she has grown over the past year and a half. It's amazing how much they change in such a short time. Taking her holiday portraits last year was so much easier, she was a little baby who just kind of stayed put. This year, she gave me a run, literally, for my money! I really enjoy when children just can play, run around and be silly. That's when you can capture who they are, truly.

Here's a sneak peek at some of her images from Saturday, hope you love them Jay & Corey!

Ayla does this funny laughing thing, where she laughs really big then goes "OOO" and covers her mouth. It's just hilarious!

What a doll!

Mommy changed her dress and we went outside for a little fun. She just ran around and around chasing Tugger and laughing the whole time.

She wouldn't stay still outside! She'd run right up to me and than slap me on the back and want to see her photos on the camera. She is a ham!

Poor Tugger just tried to stay away from crazy Ayla!

Giving Thanks / new jersey photographer

There are so many things to be thankful for this year! I won't bore you with them all, but I am thankful for great family and friends who have supported me on this photographic journey. It has been a real life learning experience and I wouldn't change a thing!

I am also thankful for wonderful clients who have made my year that much more exciting and fun! I can't explain how great it has been to meet the people I have. I feel like my "family" has grown exponentially through this business. Everyone has been so welcoming! The stories I've heard and the moments I've been able to capture has changed my perspective on life. I used to be a very pessimistic person, but I believe photography has changed my heart.

I am hopeful, excited and looking forward to the new year. I can't wait to see old clients again, watch the babies grow and meet new clients, too. Really, I am so thankful for your support and kindness! I have found a way to express my creativity, help others and offer a quality product. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You've made it possible :)

Every post is naked without a photo! I want to share a few fun images Chris took of me on Thanksgiving. I had recently bought a few Betsy Johnson dresses that I was itching to wear! We went out for the afternoon and had a little fun...

I'm thankful to have such an awesome husband that can take beautiful photos of me!

Charlotte's Growing Up / new jersey child & family portrait photographer

It's amazing how fast the little ones change! I remember my first session with Charlotte back in July. We had so much fun and I was thrilled when Paula invited me back for holiday photos of Charlotte at 4 months old. She is growing up so fast, she's a little person now with a personality all her own. I know she'll be rolling over and getting more mobile soon too. How exciting, her first Christmas is almost here!

What a cutie pie, all ready for Santa to come!

You'd never know she wasn't too happy when mommy put her in her christening gown, how relaxed!

One beautiful family...

We tired Charlotte out!

Nicholas + Marco / nj children & newborn photographer

Mario and Laura were so awesome to work with on Saturday morning. Nicholas had so much energy, he made me smile and laugh with joy! Marco was so calm and relaxed. I couldn't have asked to work with a better family. The room, lighting and silliness were so perfect!

I have to tell you that I think Nicholas will be asking to see me again. For the big photo shoot, Mommy bought him a little cake of his own to eat for birthday pictures. This little fella didn't stop buzzing around, but then came the cake! He stood still, looked in awe, wondering, is this all for me? He just sat down, waited patiently. The cake... was... all... his! Nicholas was soooo darn cute, eating one sprinkle at a time, then slowly started liking the icing. We were just waiting for him to dive right in, but he ate slowly and enjoyed every little bit of it. Nicholas is going to think every time he sees me, there will be a cake!

Without further ado... here are some gorgeous images of these little fellas enjoying their Saturday morning.

Marco was so precious and tiny...

Nicholas only stopped for a moment, but what a gorgeous boy!

Nicholas is enjoying every morsel of the cake!

Simple and innocent.

P is for Passion / photographer news

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing Sharon & Robert's wedding. They were gracious enough to allow me to bring along my friend Priscilla, a fellow photographer on the rise. P wanted to gain some experience in wedding photography and I was happy to give her an opportunity to stretch her skills. She took some great photos and was great company!

Priscilla and I met when I was a young adult librarian at the public library. She had such enthusiasm for everything she did and was always making me laugh. Yeah, she was that loud teen who you were complaining about at the front desk because you couldn't read Consumer Reports or the daily news. Back then, she was a crazy teen volunteer and now she has grown into a smart and beautiful young lady.

We've kept in touch over the years, because we share a few passions like photography and running. She definitely is a better runner than I am and she works very hard at it. I've become a slacker since I started this whirlwind of a business! I'm getting back into the groove though, and she inspires me daily to do so.

I am so happy for her that she's picked up the camera and found that passion within herself. I can't explain it, but when you find something you absolutely love to do and can express your creative side, it's magnificent. I always felt somewhat empty my whole life, like something was just missing. I've changed jobs, career paths and just couldn't pinpoint what it was I needed to do. I tried painting and was horrible! Drawing, not me! I am a visual person and I was searching for that thing that would make me feel like I could express myself visually.

I'm glad she's found that thing inside her that ticks, the drive to do amazing things and keep trying new ideas without fear. I love the fact that not only do I do this for myself, but I am able to give something to others that will be cherished. That is what brings me the biggest joy.

Through photography, I can finally express that silly, creative and happy side. I also feel honored that people will remember the session experience for years and have some awesome images to go in their family archives! It's weird, but finally I feel whole. I love my day job, as a high school librarian, offering guidance to students and learning from them. And I absolutely love my night, weekend, summer, every moment of the day job, photography. I know my husband is happy about that too!

What about your job or jobs brings you joy?

Lastly, I just want to say thanks for all the help P gave me at the wedding! I'll definitely be bringing her along in the future, before she gets too big :)

We had a little fun as well, because, well who doesn't want to have fun at a wedding?

I'm hard at work...You get great exercise crouching around taking photos!

Experimenting with her camera... don't let it catch on fire!

A gorgeous shot from a wonderful photographer... P.

World AIDS Day / nj charity photographer

In order to honor a day close to my heart, World AIDS Day, December 1, 2009 - I'm pledging to donate 10% of my profits from any boudoir sessions booked during the month of December to the Hyacinth AIDS Foundation.

Why am I doing this?

On October 31, 2009 I had the pleasure of donating my talent and time to a charity fashion show that donated all proceeds from the event to the Hyacinth AIDS Foundation. I was touched but this event, as I have known a few who have lived and died from HIV/AIDS in my lifetime.

I was shocked to find out the over 35% of HIV/AIDS cases in New Jersey are female. In addition, NJ ranks 5th in our country for the number of cumulative AIDS cases and 3rd in the number of reported HIV cases among adults/adolescents. Among the 50 States, New Jersey had one of the highest proportion of females among persons living with AIDS. Unfortunately, many women who contract HIV/AIDS are unaware that their partners have the disease.

New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, New Jersey HIV/AIDS Cases: Reported as of December, 2005.
HIV/AIDS Among Women in New Jersey (pdf)
HIV/AIDS Among Women (CDC)

Book your session in December and part of your session will go to fight HIV/AIDS for other women.

Baby Fiona Katelyn / nj newborn photographer

I'm really going to miss seeing this family every few weeks. On Sunday I had the pleasure to meet baby Fiona Katelyn, how awesome is that... she has my name! Rita, Gavin and Donny are so much fun, I know this little one will fit right in.

I also was excited because I got to see little Donny again! This little guy is so energetic, amazing, fun, silly and flirty! He knows my car and was so excited to see me, how cool is that? Watch out Rita & Gavin, I might have to borrow him for awhile :)

Oh, it was funny too, I've been labeled the Baby Whisperer by Rita & Gavin. I feel honored, but I'm sure my powers will disappear the moment I have a baby! Every time I shoot newborns, when they get fussy, I just hold them and they calm right down. Not sure what it is I do, but it always works. Sorry, I don't do house calls at 3am though!

I know Rita is anxiously awaiting these images! Thanks for making me feel like a part of your family, you really have a beautiful one.

The coolest little boy ever...

A little girl, so sweet and innocent...

A little bit of everything...

Hyacinth HIV/AIDS Foundation / nj charity photographer

I had the opportunity to be a part of a wonderful charitable fashion show last night! I was one of several photographers covering the event hosted by CAJ Entertainment. The proceeds from the fashion show are going to the Hyacinth HIV/AIDS Foundation. I met some really awesome people and I am happy to be able to help charities that are close to my heart. Here are a few images from last night:

There's me... trying to be fashionable in my bright yellow shirt! I'm a dork :P
